Wontaring – Hunter Koori Youth Program
Wontaring (meaning “Where to?” in Awabakal language) is an early intervention program supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people aged 16–24 across Newcastle, Lake Macquarie and Port Stephens who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.
We understand that every young person’s journey is different. That’s why Wontaring offers flexible case management and consult support, working alongside young people to identify their goals and provide the level of support that’s right for them.
Support may include assistance to access emergency, transitional or long-term accommodation, maintain existing tenancies, develop independent living skills, navigate education and employment opportunities, and advocate with other services.
Our team provides Culturally safe, strengths-based support that empowers young people to build stability, increase independence, and work towards a positive future.
Referrals can be made by young people themselves, family members, community members, or service providers through our online referral form.
