Yaaro
Yaaro is a Culturally safe Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) program supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people aged 16 years and over across Newcastle, Lake Macquarie and Port Stephens.
We provide flexible case coordination and consult support for upto 12 weeks for people who are currently using alcohol and other drugs, are thinking about making changes, or would like support to improve their overall wellbeing.
Yaaro works alongside individuals to identify their goals and connect them with the right supports. Assistance may include case planning, advocacy, referrals to treatment and rehabilitation services, harm reduction education, health and wellbeing supports, justice and legal support, and connecting with Cultural and community services.
Our approach is person-centred, Culturally safe, and focused on building on each person’s strengths to support positive, lasting change at their own pace.
Referrals can be made by individuals, community members, or service providers through our online referral form.
