OOHC Case Worker Position

Wandiyali Children's Services (OOHC) works with children, carers and families within the Out of Home Care system.

The role of Case Worker is to assist in identifying, establishing and supporting placements for Aboriginal children and young people with carers in the Hunter and Upper Hunter regions. They will provide casework to children in foster care in line with Wandiyali  policies and procedures and statutory and legislative requirements.

The suitable candidate will be able to address the following essential criteria:

Essential Criteria

Must be of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander descent, or be able to demonstrate suitable knowledge and experience from working within an ATSI community

Relevant experience working with children and young people in the statutory care system

Experience in case work with families, children and young people

Knowledge of legislative requirements for Out of Home Care

Demonstrated understanding of the developmental needs of children and young people

Ability to manage own time and work resources and work effectively in a small team

Experience working with families in adversity

Exceptional interpersonal communication

A high level of skill in report writing

Intermediate level of computer skills

Demonstrated ability to liaise with relevant government and non-government professionals, community groups, services and agencies

Current NSW driver's licence

Current Working With Children's Check
