Going Home Staying Home Case Worker

About the Role

The Service targets Aboriginal young people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. It provides client centred, culturally appropriate homelessness support, including prevention and early intervention, rehousing, crisis and transitional accommodation, and intensive responses for Aboriginal young people with complex needs or Aboriginal young people leaving care or other institutions.

Essential Criteria

Identify as a person of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent and ability to prove as required
Successful Working With Children’s Check (WWCC)
Current NSW Drivers Licence
Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline (Community Services; Youth Work, Case Management etc.) and/or long-term relevant work experience in this field
Strong and effective communication skills: negotiation, consultation, problem solving, teamwork
Reporting Skills: strong written language skills, report writing and record keeping
Time Management: prioritising tasks and working to completion within deadlines, working as part of a team and autonomously to achieve goals
Accountability: capable of review and revision of work; contribute to high quality service delivery; attention to detail
 Advocacy: demonstrated skill and experience in accessing services for clients
 Computer and Technology: competent computer skills, Intermediate level of Word and Excel skills preferred
 Experience to undertake administrative and computer tasks linked to this position, using electronic and manual case management and including data reporting tools and/or portals
Communicate effectively and demonstrate an understanding of the needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and young people
