The Role

PSP Family Support program aims to do everything possible to prevent children entering foster care by assessing both risks and strengths of families identified by Department of Family & Community Services at risk of significant harm. This aims to build on parenting capacity and improve safety for the child by supporting, modelling and referring as needed with wrap around services. Family Preservation will be actioned by a multidisciplinary circle of practitioners, family workers, therapeutic specialists, parents, family, community and the child/young person.

Key Role Responsibilities

Provide;

Provide effective management of Wandiyali Family Support Service and its staff.
Ensure effective family and parenting support is provided to clients in line with service guidelines, Wandiyali policies and procedures
Ensure effective child focus support are provided to clients in line with service guidelines, Wandiyali policies and procedures
Provide effective safety monitoring of staff and clients
Risk mitigation

Required Qualifications, skills and experience

Experience managing a team
Degree in Social Work, Social Science, Psychology, Counselling, Welfare or related field
Extensive case work experience working with vulnerable children, young people and their families within the child protection sector
Demonstrated experience in managing a caseload and case planning with families experiencing complex trauma
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Demonstrated strong relationship building skills with families and the extended family systems; and community partners
Demonstrated understanding of child protection issues with an ability to assess risk and experience in conducting risk assessments
Driver’s License
