Wandiyali is looking for a motivated and passionate case worker to join their Brighter Futures team!

About the Organisation

Wandiyali is a community organisation that delivers services such as Out of Home Care case management, Brighter Futures (Early Intervention), Child Care (long day care), Indigenous Community Links, PSP OOHC, Housing and much more!

About the Role

Brighter Futures is funded to target early intervention support for vulnerable children and families.  Wandiyali is the lead agency developing and implementing the Brighter Futures Program in Newcastle.

Brighter futures involves case management, access to child care, parenting programs, home visiting and brokerage in order to improve emotional, social, health, educational and developmental outcomes for children and their families.

Essential Criteria 

***All applicants must have a current Working With Children Check, or be willing to obtain one before commencement of employment***

  1. Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent
  2. Experience in working with families with children
  3. Demonstrated ability to implement and oversee case plans using appropriate models of intervention that creates opportunities, empowers and promotes the well being of children and their families
  4. Demonstrated knowledge of child development and how to assess children's developmental needs
  5. Knowledge and experience in working with families where there are high needs and issues including drug and alcohol use, mental health and domestic violence and experience in child protection
  6. Highly developed interpersonal skills including an understanding of counselling, mediation and conflict resolution
  7. Demonstrated ability to work as a member of a busy team and be self-motivated.
  8. Demonstrated commitment and ability to maintain confidentiality and accountability; including client records, team and organisational discussions
  9. The ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with other services and attend local network events
  10. Demonstrated ability to participate positively in team work, training and supervision processes.
  11. Proven effective written and verbal communication skills
