Birriwal Program Case Worker Position

Summary of the Broad Purpose of the Position

To provide information, advocacy, referral and case management support to children aged 7- 13 years and their families who are assessed as vulnerable and do not have sufficient resources or support networks immediately available to prevent them further educational, social, and emotional decline. The objective of the role is to provide culturally appropriate services to a minimum of 80 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients throughout the course of a year.

Essential Requirements

Identify as a person of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent and ability to prove as required
Successful Working With Children's Check (WWCC)
Current NSW Drivers Licence
Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline (Community Services; Youth Work, Case Management etc.) and/or long-term relevant work experience in this field, or life experience.
Demonstrated knowledge of the needs and obstacles facing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and their families
Strong and effective communication skills: negotiation, consultation, problem solving, teamwork
Reporting Skills: strong written language skills, report writing and record keeping
Time Management: prioritising tasks and working to completion within deadlines, working as part of a team and autonomously to achieve goals
Accountability: capable of review and revision of work; contribute to high quality service delivery; attention to detail
 Advocacy: demonstrated skill and experience in accessing services for clients
 Computer and Technology: competent computer skills, Intermediate level of Word and Excel skills preferred
 Experience to undertake administrative and computer tasks linked to this position, using electronic and manual case management and including data reporting tools and/or portals
